Enhancing Vietnam–Laos Logistics Connectivity

On 20 November 2025, at the Muang Thang Hotel in Vientiane Capital, a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was held between Lao-Asia Telecommunication State Enterprise and Saigon Newport Corporation regarding cooperation in the logistics sector. The ceremony was attended by Lt. Gen. Saichay Kommasith, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Lao Peoples Army; Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang, Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Maj. Gen. Oulaha Thongvantha, Director General of Lao-Asia Telecommunication State Enterprise; Col. Bui Van Quy, Deputy Director General of Saigon Newport Corporation.; together with representatives from both sides.
The purpose of signing this MOU is to demonstrate the commitment of both parties to exchange information, affirm a long-term and comprehensive cooperative relationship between Lao-Asia Telecommunication State Enterprise and Saigon Newport Corporation, and promote logistical connectivity along the EastWest Economic Corridor. The cooperation aims to enhance the competitiveness of supply chain operations within the border areas of Laos and Vietnam; improve the efficiency and quality of transportation services at the LaoVietnam International Port in Vung Ang, as well as its associated infrastructure linking ports, factories, and customers; increase operational efficiency to reduce costs; and strengthen competitiveness for businesses operating along the EastWest Economic Corridor, particularly those utilizing services at the LaoVietnam International Port.
