On May 31, 2025, the Vangvieng District Authorities of Vientiane Province, the Lao-Asia Telecommunication State Enterprise, and Star Telecom Co., Ltd. jointly organized a tree planting and fish releasing activity in celebration of the 101st International Childrens Day (June 1, 1924 June 1, 2025) and the 45th National Tree Planting Day (June 1, 1980 June 1, 2025).
The ceremony was held at the golf course of the Lao-Asia Telecommunication State Enterprise in Vangvieng District, Vientiane Province, and was chaired by Lieutenant General Sychpor Vongkhampommakone, Deputy Minister of National Defense. The event was attended by Vangvieng district authorities, representatives from the Ministry of National Defense, the Lao-Asia Telecommunication State Enterprise, Star Telecom Co., Ltd., local residents, and other concerned sectors.
At the event, Mr. Phonkeo Khounphon, Governor of Vangvieng District, delivered a briefing on the preparation of this tree-planting ceremony. Following that, Lieutenant General Sychpor Vongkhampommakone officially opened the event and remarked that in the current period where the entire Party, State, army, and Lao people are actively implementing the resolutions of the 11th National Congress of the Lao Peoples Revolutionary Party the government has continuously placed great importance on forest conservation and development as a strategic task in the countrys socio-economic development.
This activity represents the implementation of the Partys forestry and environmental strategies, contributing to forest restoration, ecological balance, and strengthening unity between local communities and state enterprises under the Ministry of National Defense. It also supports the governments policy of promoting sustainable and green development.
In total, more than 3,000 trees including industrial, ornamental, and fruit trees were planted, and over 8,000 mixed fish were released into the area.
